PAY IT FORWARD

We started the pay it forward scheme as a way to allow everyone no matter their circumstances to be able to enjoy our welcoming atmosphere and delicious coffee.

If you should find yourself struggling financially or mentally please join us for a coffee and some respite.

Just simply mention to the staff that you would like to pay by peg. Simple. At 1496 we believe that coffee & taking time out is a necessity not a privilege. 

We have donated over the last year to : Moray Food Bank, Moray schools bank, Moray women's Aid, Moray Handypersons Services, FACT - online services project.

Customers when paying ask to pay it forward, we then add a charge (currently £2.50) to the bill. We record this by adding one of our colorful pegs to the line hanging in the Cafe.

At the end of each month any unclaimed pegs are returned to monetary value & donated to a local group or charity so the money is working in the community not just hanging about.
